Congratulations and thanks to all the candidates for trying to do what is best for our city and citizens. The last of the votes should be counted tomorrow and the citizens of District 2 should know for certain who their new councilman is going to be. The front runner is Corey Jackson but Jeffrey Giba has closed the gap. District 4 and 5 also have new council members with Yxstian Gutierrez and Dolores LeDonna Jempson winning clear victories. In 2016, we should be voting for a directly elected mayor but until then the City Council will have to pick from the Council itself. I would like to see George Price fill the role of Mayor and La Donna Jempson fill the role of Mayor Pro-Tem. Then in 2016, the voters can select the person they think is most qualified from anyone who is interested in running. All I ask, and hope for, is that the citizens truly research and vet the candidates and not look to the robo-calls, mailers, and signage. Worse still do not just vote party line. Please take the time to learn about the candidates and vote for the most qualified person regardless of their party affiliation.
Charles had the pleasure of attending a Candidate Forum at the Cross Word Church on October 8, 2014. It was the largest turnout to date and the citizens had a lot of good questions. Charles also participated in another Candidate Forum at the Il Sorrento Mobile Home Park on October 11, 2014. While the citizen turnout was lower than earlier in the week, their comments and concerns were spot on. The next Candidate Forum will be on October 16, 2014. We hope to see some new faces with equally challenging questions.
Attached is the link to Blog Talk Radio and the MV City Political Talk interview with Charles Roberts that took place on September 27, 2014. Thank you to the hosts Deanna Reeder and Mike McCoy for providing this invaluable service to the citizens of Moreno Valley. Please listen to the interview with Charles as well as the interviews of the other candidates and then decide who best represents your personal views and who is most likely to honor their pledges and/or commitment to you.
